Welcome to Door County Cottage, near Haines Beach!

This 3 bedroom, 2 bath Door County Cottage is walking distance to the beach and located on Sand Bay Point! This cottage has a peaceful setting that is tucked back into the woods and within walking distance of a sand beach! We also have our “Family Fun Shed” full of kayaks, bikes, strollers and outdoor games for your use, at no charge! We are also child and dog friendly as well.

Our home is a hub for avid bikers, runners, beach goers and those seeking a casual walk around the neighborhood. We’re located within one mile of Haines Beach (sand beach), 5 miles from Potawatomi State Park, and 20 miles from the heart of Door County.

The beach and public water access is 1 mile or less away from the cottage and walking distance. If you are traveling into the heart of Door County, you want a vehicle. AMPLE parking at the cottage with a turn around in the driveway.

SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS: We have 3 total bedrooms. One King bed, one Queen bed, one single bed a CRIB and twin over full bunk bed. There is also a large pack-n-play in the closet for babies to sleep in as well. The bedrooms all have room darkening curtains too.

IF YOU COME IN THE WINTER, THERE IS PLENTY TO DO:
1. GREAT ice fishing all around Sand Bay Point. See pictures for the public access to the water (ice) as its only a short walk away!
2. Sturgeon Bay Ice Skating Rink – free and located at 307 S. 14th Ave., Sturgeon Bay.
3. Lots of hiking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing trails at Potawatomi State Park and “Crossroads at Big Creek” located at 2041 Michigan St, Sturgeon Bay
4. FREE sledding at Big Hill Park located at 1509 Division Rd, Sturgeon Bay or Incinerator Hill located at 1509 Division Rd, Sturgeon Bay.

With or without kids anyone can have a relaxing lake experience here. if you have kids though this place is set to help you make it easier. some toys the crib and pack n play makes the roadtrip much easier to pack for. One floor with a small step into 2 rooms was really helpful to have the little one roam safely and practice steps in sight and under supervision. Definitely recommending to my family and friends that have kids. O yeah and it’s 15 mins max into Sturgeon bay for any needed supplies or restaurants.

Really enjoyed the place and I think we will consider coming back. We enjoyed the privacy while still being relatively close to most of the places we enjoy in Door County. Host was flexible about our dogs which was appreciated. Highly recommend!

We had a very relaxing vacation and Rick was an amazing host! We’ll be back annually for our ice fishing trip. Just needed some ice this year! It was a little too warm for “Ice” on the Bay. Bummer!!!! 50 lbs of white fish is our average, but we’ve got to be able to get on the ice to fish 😉 instead this year we hung out at Rick’s place. it was nice!

Enjoyed our stay at another Rise & Shine Retreats rental! Highlights include cooking in the fully stocked kitchen and watching the whitetail deer visit the front yard in the morning while drinking coffee by the wood burning stove. Neighbors were present but sparse and friendly. Loved hearing the wind and waves from the backyard and it is a nice walk to the public access down the road. Good sized Pick & Save in downtown Sturgeon Bay had all the groceries we needed but we do recommend taking a short (20 min) drive to the Mill Supper Club for a tasty meal with excellent service. We stayed here while visiting family in Green Bay and it was an easy commute.

Rick was responsive and easy to get a hold of during our stay. Excellent and clean place matched the description and kitchen had everything you needed to cook. So many towels and places to sleep and enough toiletries. Games consoles were the icing on the cake and we didn’t want to leave! We are definitely coming back! This place was a gem, area super quiet and so close to the beach!

This was the most beautiful place for my family of 4 to have our intimate Thanksgiving getaway. The rooms were spacious and beautiful, the kitchen was well stocked with amenities and supplies, and there were even a whole big shelf of toys and books for my children (5 and 2 year old). The location was tucked away in the most beautiful and serene surroundings. Rick was very helpful and responsive throughout our stay. We will definitely stay here again for our next visit to Door County!
